Notes

This uncomplicated version of applesauce can be eaten as a snack or used for baking. It gives the breads a lighter weight and provides sweetness as well. My maternal grandmother, Nonnie, who is still doing her own cooking at the age of 97, handed down this recipe. When we were newly married, we went apple picking with her at a local orchard, and together, we then stewed the apples into this homemade applesauce. - Raman
