1 pound ground turkey

1 small apple, cored, peeled, and grated

¼ cup onion, peeled and chopped fine

2 TBSP fresh chives, chopped fine

⅛ tsp black pepper

⅛ tsp salt

⅛ tsp cinnamon powder

1 egg for binding

1 TBSP olive oil

oil for frying (olive or sunflower)

2 TBSP (30 ml) fresh chives, chopped fine

⅛ tsp (0.6 ml) black pepper

⅛ tsp (0.6 ml) salt

⅛ tsp (0.6 ml) cinnamon powder

1 egg for binding

1 TBSP (15 ml) olive oil

oil for frying (olive or sunflower)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine all the ingredients together (except the oil for frying).
  • Using your hands, work the apples and onions into the turkey so that the turkey meat base is well proportioned.
  • Make 2½- to 3-inch (6.5- to 7.5-cm) diameter patties and flatten. Set aside.
  • In a (cast-iron) stove top pan, heat the frying oil, and then add in the patties.
  • Flip over and cook other side until done.
  • Remove and set aside.
  • Repeat this process until all patties are cooked through.

Notes

The turkey burgers can be made alongside beef burgers at your annual summer cookout. Put them between two SCD bread pieces and smother them with Nonnie's SCD Ketchup. Enjoy along with Sue's Onion Rings! (see Related Recipes)
